Child safety policy and statement of commitment

Our commitment
Elite Tennis and Moreland Tennis Academy is committed to child safety. We want children to be safe, happy and empowered. We support and respect all children, as well as our staff, families and volunteers. We are committed to the safety, participation and empowerment of all children. We have zero tolerance of child abuse, and all allegations and safety concerns will be treated very seriously and consistently with our policies and procedures.

Our children
This policy is intended to empower children who are energetic and active participants at our club. We involve them when making decisions, especially about matters that directly affect them. We listen to their views and respect what they have to say.

At Elite Tennis and Moreland Tennis Academy we are committed to regularly training and educating our staff and volunteers on child abuse and risks factors. We support and respect all children, as well as our staff, families and volunteers. We have specific policies, procedures and training in place that support our leadership team, staff and volunteers to achieve these commitments. All our staff and volunteers must agree to abide by our code of conduct which specifies the standards of conduct required when working with children.

Through Lynton’s leadership, ETA reach out to primary schools through offering support at school fetes and through a leadership program at a local school. The ETA staff and community of families have participated in several Moreland Relay for Life to raise funds for the Cancer Council Victoria. Moreland/Elite Tennis Academy support FIDA, an Aussie Rules football competition for people with intellectual disabilities. ETA promotes the Federation Cup Foundation through staff supporting their fundraising events and efforts raising the profile of women’s tennis.

A major initiative and fundraising is for Sands, who support families who have experienced the loss of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or newborth death. The Longest Rally in Support of Sands is an initiative of Lynton with the support of his wife, Cara. The 2017 event was a wonderful success fostering amazing community spirit. The event was well supported by families of the Elite Tennis Academy and East Coburg Tennis Club with many parents volunteering their time and offering donations. The event created awareness of Sands with funds raised exceeding expectations.
